Still being paid for travelling around the country in 1986! I dropped into Grantham pre-electrification and got these shots. I'm particularly pleased with the class 31 shot.

All this was to change of course soon after as electrification of the ECML was completed.

FACEBOOK - RAIL THING ROUTES - EAST COAST MAIN LINE

Back in 1986 the East Coast Main Line was still on the verge of being electrified and HSTs were running the fast trains after taking over from the Deltics. Took these couple on a dullish day in June 1986. A few years later everything changed again on the ECML.
